Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
We are always in need of individuals who are dedicated and dependable to lend us a helping hand. The horses at Have a Heart Equine Sanctuary depend on us to care for them daily and we owe it to them to provide the best quality care that we possibly can.
Requirements to volunteer
For the safety of our horses, staff and volunteers we have a few requirements in order to volunteer:
- Youth volunteers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
- An indemnity form needs to be completed before volunteering work commences.
- Our ponies and horses often come to us in a bad state and have little to no muscle mass which we have to build up slowly. For the safety of our horses and riders, we can only allow volunteers up to 75kg to ride the horses. If you are unable to ride, there will be many other activities to interact and engage in with the horses!
Horse experience is a plus but not a must and we will guide you through your duties and teach you all that you will need to know, while putting safety first.
If you volunteer for longer periods, we will provide accommodation and three meals a day.
Please Note: Given the health and safety of our horses and staff, there is a strict no-smoking policy at the farm.
