Happy Monday Friends and Followers
I hope you have all had an amazing week and that life is somehow starting to feel normal π°
We have been so overwhelmed with the amazing number of adoption enquirers that we have received recently and pray that we are able to re-home a few horses this month Now that once off travel is allowed we can find amazing homes for some of our babies β€οΈ
We have been so blessed with some incredibly kind people who have donated to us recently β€οΈ to name a few… Gia who donated her birthday money to us π Nadia Kleyn who donated proceeds from a painting she sold and Sarah Schulman who so kindly donated from a raffle that she ran. There are still so many more people I wish to thank and I will get through my list and send out Massive thank youβs
She has finally arrived ππ our beautiful horse box donated by Network for Animals. We are so overwhelmed and grateful for you support and this amazing gift π with our very own working box, we can now respond much quicker to rescues and get horses to safety π we thank you from the bottom of our hearts β₯οΈ
This week our babies had a manicure some of the newbies had not seen a farrier ever and now have pretty new hooves ππ
Not all has been so fantastic this week however π° we rescued 3 very well bred Welsh ponies from starvation. They are well know ponies in the show community and it is heartbreaking to see what is happening out there now that people are starting to suffer without income π° The filly foal has Patella Luxation and will more than likely require a rather expensive surgery to give her a chance at life π we are working with our vets at this stage to see what the best course of action is for her, but at this stage she is very happy and active, even making friends with our Gouda filly foal we recently rescued β€οΈ
Dear Bruce is doing well π still no one has come forward to give us details as to how he ended up in bush racing but we are chasing up on leads. This incredibly lucky man has been donated Thermal Mud by Vermate and Thermal Mud for his injuries and we are treating him twice a day. He has even had someone interested in offering him a homeΒ holding thumbs for this amazing boy.
We had a very sad call out with regards to a young colt who had gone down in the Gouda area, we attempted to assist over the phone but it was decided that the best call of action was to ask a vet to go out and see him. The decision was made to PTS this sweet boy as he was in a very poor state and unlikely to survive π° we would like to thank the vets involved who helped this beautiful boy as best they could under the circumstances. More details will be given in a later post.
Today Marc will be our doing inspections and assisting NSPCA with follow ups β€οΈ but at the farm we will be doing further maintenance and clean ups before the craziness of the rest of the week begins.
Tomorrow we will bring in the herd for inspections, de-worming and dipping. This is always a crazy experience as the herd of 30 mainly wild and un-handled mares, youngsters and geldings tend to be a handful ππ it will be all hands on deck….. some of them will then be staying with us to start being handled and backed. The others will go back out onto the land for the winter. There are some real stunners out there all crossbreeds so watch this space ππ π
Winter is always a tough time of year. Hay supplies are starting to run short, the drought has had a major impact on that. Whilst we have planted this year we are praying for rain which has not yet arrived π° The rain will help the grazing which will cut down on our roughage slightly and extend our stock. As we have no grazing we are feeding large amounts of roughage to our horses which as you all know costs a fortune π°
Hope everyone has an amazing week ahead β₯οΈ stay safe and keep warm…..
